Supporting Port Infrastructure: KPMI Installs Large-Diameter HDPE Pipes for East Access Road MICT Drainage Project
In one of Metro Manila’s busiest logistics hubs, the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) continues to expand with the development of Berth 8, a critical port infrastructure project led by Prime BMD. To ensure efficient and long-lasting drainage for the new facility, KPMI was selected to supply high-performance Large-Diameter High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Pipes.

This drainage system features Covered Wall HDPE Pipes with ID/OD dimensions of 1500mm / 1200mm, engineered for gravity flow applications. With a ring stiffness rating of SN13, the pipes offer robust structural support—essential for areas exposed to heavy vehicular and cargo traffic. A total of 42 pipe sections were installed, forming a strong foundation for sustainable water management beneath the port infrastructure.
KPMI’s Large-Diameter HDPE Pipes are well-suited for this demanding environment. Their corrosion resistance, long service life, and ease of installation make them the ideal solution for modern port and industrial applications. The use of gravity-based drainage enhances flow efficiency while reducing energy and maintenance costs over time.
By integrating advanced HDPE piping solutions into a major seaport development, this project demonstrates the importance of reliable underground infrastructure in supporting above-ground operations. The Berth 8 expansion not only increases port capacity—it also reflects a forward-thinking approach to engineering that prioritizes durability, efficiency, and sustainability.
Through projects like this, KPMI continues to support national infrastructure growth with innovative pipe systems that serve the evolving needs of industrial and urban environments.
